John Alden 42 ft Cutter Rigged Ketch
INCA
BROKERS COMMENTS
INCA was completed in 2000 to John Alden’s Design number 1008 - Alden will be forever associated with his schooner designs; their beauty and ability offshore for both cruising and racing. INCA exhibits the same refined good looks and graceful proportions and has proved herself a very capable cruising yacht, easily handled by two people.
INCA is an ideal family cruising boat or long distance cruiser - her interior volume is impressive for a boat of this style, beautifully finished, in Utile wood. The inventory list is very comprehensive, excluding only the new owner\'s first passage plan! The current owner has very happily cruised her around the English Channel, to the East Coast, Ireland, the Outer Hebrides, France and Spain. INCA is CE marked and is RCD Category A.

CONSTRUCTION
INCA was built by Kenneth Fairbairn with a GRP hull fully epoxied at the time of construction. She has a lead encapsulated keel and her decks are of epoxy coated Brazilian cedar and overpainted. She carries varnished Douglas fir spars.
DECK LAYOUT
INCA’s well enclosed cockpit houses the wheel steering and co mounted compass binnacle and engine control just abaft the mizzen. The main traveller crosses the bridge deck and instrument repeaters are laid out on the cabin side aft. Access to the main cabin below is offset to starboard with sliding roof revealing companionway steps. The coach roof is surmounted aft by the boom gallows then by mahogany brass bound lifting skylights, a fore hatch with brass port and dorade vents. Teak handrails grace the length each side of the coach roof, The caprails are also of varnished teak, boundaries of the ample side decks.
ACCOMMODATION AND DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT
From the cockpit the accommodation is approached over the bridge deck and then companionway steps down. One is immediately impressed by the very well finished interior, mainly in varnished teak and mahogany as well as the ample headroom; 6 ft 6 inches headroom throughout. The white painted coach roof interior contrasts stylishly with the varnished deck beams.
Immediately to port is the double guest cabin, stretching aft below the quarter deck. Next is the galley with gas oven, double hob, double stainless steel sink and ample stowage. Opposite to Starboard is the chart table and navigation station with a generous single pilot berth leading aft.
The main saloon has a single berth / settee each side and dining table. A door in the Saloon for’ard bulkhead leads to the heads to port, wardrobe stowage to starboard and then to the fore peak, which has a generous double berth with plenty of space and stowage, above the settees outboard and below
