Comben & Hyland 40 ft Motor Yacht 1937

PARELLA

BROKERS COMMENTS

A robust vessel – as might be expected from the yard of Miller and Son on the Clyde and famous for their “Fifer” motor sailers - PARELLA typical of Clyde vessels of that era carries her lines with some elegance. She was recently restored to a high standard by Chantier Stagnol and provides substantial accommodation in the style more of a gentleman’s yacht than a working boat. The restorers have retained PARELLA’s authenticity, while integrating appropriate systems and the comforts expected of a more modern boat. With new engines and electrical systems, a newly refurbished bridge in particular, PARELLLA is sailing again to recall the era of her birth.

CONSTRUCTION

- American oak planking on oak frames

ACCOMMODATION

There is accommodation enough to sleep up to 8 people in 3 cabins. Entering the wheelhouse from deck level by sliding door either side, companionway steps down lead to the guest cabin aft. A doorway opens to 2 berths, each well lit with a light and 3 portholes. There is a large mirror, chest of 3 drawers and below each berth 4 more drawers. Forward is a small cupboard to port and head with Blake WC and basin with H & C water to starboard.

The steps lead back up to the wheel house, well glazed and lit also with 3 electric lights - where 4 people could sit round the saloon table and where the helm, engine controls, batteries and immersion heater are housed.

Forward, double doors open and steps down lead to the large open plan saloon that is both snug and generous. This has a wonderful ambience with original varnished furniture, white deck head, open work and upholstery seat in blue corduroy. Settee / double berths each side enable eight to eat at the table amidships.

To starboard is a feature cabinet with bevelled glass panes. To port is a nice desk and a vegetable larder and stowage for crockery. Further stowage is in a large drawer below the settee. Lighting is by opening skylight, 4 portholes and 4 lights. There is a 220 V socket. There is a Pioneer CD player and radio

Double doors open forward to a corridor with to port the owner’s head compartment with automatic WC, shower and a wash basin, (electric pump).

Opposite is the galley with 4 burner gas hob and oven, stainless steel sink with hot and cold water, worktop surfaces and ample stowage around, fridge, opening porthole, light and 220 V socket.
