BROKER'S COMMENTS

It is hard to disagree with Ed Burnett’s aim to design yachts of distinction that will give their owners many years of pleasure. We would go further and flag him as one of very few designers of the modern era who can draw a long keel yacht to match Laurent Giles or Harrison Butler for proportion and style.

IVY GREEN was conceived to provide a little more space than afforded by the successful design No 010 ZINNIA without becoming a burden to handle for a cruising couple; her commissioning owners. The design therefore avoided excessive displacement and allows for a modest rig. She is now well proven and is offered with an impressive inventory and ready for the season.

Owners comments

For some time my wife and I had been looking for a long keeled, classic yacht, with good sea keeping qualities yet was a fast and comfortable sailor. Eventually we discovered Ed Burnett who drew us IVY GREEN, a beautiful boat capable of sailing huge distances, while being easily handled. I particularly like wood, and wood epoxy seemed a sound modern compromise that gives all the wonderfully warm attributes of wood without a lot of expensive and time consuming maintenance. We have cruised IVY GREEN two handed extensively in the English Channel and southern North Sea and as was our original intention, would have gone further afield but have been prevented by family commitments and ill health. It is ill health that has finally forced her sale. We are very sad to see her go.
