PAZIENZA
BROKERS COMMENTS
PAZIENZA designed by Laurent Giles was built by Cantiere Navale V. Beltrami in Genoa in 1956. In his design philosophy Laurent Giles considered a yacht should have ‘the utmost docility and sureness of manoeuvring at sea, in good or bad weather”. Thus his boats were designed to maintain a steady course with minimal action by the helmsman, yet to respond instantly to the helm if the need arose. He identified PAZIENZA as a “good example of a comfortable shorthanded cruising boat with a first class performance under power yet able to take part successfully in ocean races’. Yachting World in 1957, described her as “a large cutter into which a great deal of thought has been given to comfort and convenience’.
Laurent Giles seemed to achieve a seamless transition between traditional and modern styling - it is not surprising that PAZIENZA with her handsome sheers and understated English good looks is down to the last two nominees for the most beautiful boat in France for 2010 -which is also an indication of her current impressive condition.
ACCOMMODATION AND DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT
From aft on deck the very large lazarette gives way to the generous cockpit with deep lockers below the seating on both sides and demountable table. Forward is the comfortable pilot house, with seating both sides and the navigation station and instrument aft and to one side and from which a companionway leads forward and down a head and shower to port and a midships cabin to starboard. The saloon beyond, has a large opening butterfly hatch skylight, four deckhead lights and portholes. Night light is augmented by 2 brass paraffin lamps on the forward bulkhead. It is possible to sleep four in an infill double to port and single and additional pull out ¾ size berth across the drop leaf table to starboard with very substantial stowage in lockers beneath. Further forward the galley lies athwartships. This has a large keel cooled fridge freezer, Eno 4 burner hob and oven and good stowage in 4 drawers and 2 pan cupboards below. (Both the galley and head with WC and shower amidships have extractor fans and are finished in stainless steel). The galley is further lit by a butterfly hatch skylight. The forepeak beyond that has two pipe cot berths with stowage and houses the Bamar furling gear control.
Coming aft again through the saloon and through the deck house steps lead down past the chart table to the aft cabin; surmounted by butterfly hatch for good light it has a single and double berth, en suite head with electric WC, shower and stowage including hanging locker.

HISTORY
PAZIENZA was first registered in British waters (Guernsey) in 1979. Little is known of her history from1956 to that time but it is believed she remained in the ownership of the family who had originally commissioned her. There have been 8 owners; one of whom on 2 different occasions since then including her current owners.
In 2004 her present owner looking for a boat to cross the Atlantic, found PAZIENZA, no stranger to Atlantic crossings her previous owners had taken her to the Caribbean in 2002 and back in 2003, then to sell.
Since then she has crossed the Atlantic twice, in 2005 in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers and again in 2008 in the Transat Classique Lagasse. On both occasions PAZIENZA has proved an extremely sea worthy boat, taking care of all those who sail her.
