BROKER'S COMMENTS

The remake of the Fairey Spearfish deserved a very loud fanfare – in our opinion there are very few modern motor boats as capable as the Swordsman 30 and like the original Spearfish they have a timeless quality about them and suggest understated good taste.

FORTISSIMO is in impressive condition and is for sale ready for the new season.

History

The now famous Fairey Marine Huntress models, the 23, 28 and 31, were so dominant in the big offshore races of their day that they became legends in their own lifetimes. They weren\'t just race boats though. They combined the proportions of the gentleman\'s express cruiser with rnagnificent sea-keeping, and their ability to maintain speed through mountainous seas while retaining their poise rightly won them enormous acclaim. Today; a full 40 years later, they remain some of the most capable boats on the water.

When Fairey Marine closed, the two moulds for the Spearfish ended up on the Isle of Wight. Although one was stolen – and never since come to light, the survivors were bought along with the marketing rights to produce and sell them as Fairey Spearfish. The new Swordsman 30 is also built using this original hull mould but with a different superstructure mould providing a better accommodation option than the original, all brought into being by the Bewes brothers who set up Swordsman Marine; worthy successors to and bearers of the Fairey marque
