BROKER'S COMMENTS

ALBACOR is a fine example of this famous marque with a good history and documentation. On acquiring her, the current owners undertook to resolve all survey issues and full details of the refurbishments are available. Given the costs of fuel the installation of the Gardner engines was a sensible way to make this craft economical by most standards. ALBACOR offers an opportunity to own a fully functioning piece of maritime history with noted sea keeping qualities for a sensible outlay.

History

The designer John Bain supervised the build personally and reportedly most documents are held by the current owner who purchased her from the original owner in 2007, lying Palma de Mallorca where she has spent most of her life. Her lines are those of yesteryear offering the classic \'Gentleman\'s Motor Cruiser\' appeal of the era. Substantially refitted in 2007-8, the work retained much of her latter day charm and elegance in keeping with the marque.

Refit features

In 2007 a boatyard in Palma de Mallorca undertook the complete renewal of the transom and all soft wood, as well as the cleaning and preparing of the underwater areas of the hull and application of a new fibre-glass \'coat\', as was done prior to her first launch when new. The removal of the engines was also carried out then the fitting of the fully reconditioned replacement engines at the time of a major re-fit in 2007 / 8 and included shaft modifications with thrust bearings added. At the same time the Kubota 6.5 KVA generator was installed. All fuel tanks and water tanks - were cleaned, painted and pressure tested at re-fit. One water tank was replaced at that time.

Refit information is available together with 2006 survey details plus historical documents from her original build
