BROKER'S COMMENTS

The Spirit 46 has many of the answers if you are searching for modern performance with the emotional satisfaction of an incredibly elegant hull form and startling ease of handling. Blossoming fleet racing as well as a proven force in the Spirit of Tradition fleets the Spirit 46 can accommodate up to 5 people in an interior as elegant as her external lines would suggest. SPYRYS benefits from her high specification and a first owner who has done everything to keep the yacht in close to perfect condition; including winters under cover or inside ashore – and recent back to bare wood treatment of the bright work and 12 coats of Epiphanes ! SPYRYS is totally ready for the season.

History

SPYRYS sailed from Ipswich to Southampton in the spring of 2007 and a few weeks later on to her mooring near Porth Navas on the Helford River in Cornwall. That year in July she took part in the British Classic Yacht Regatta a week of racing in Cowes along with a large number of other classic yachts, claiming 1st prize in her class in the long inshore race. She participated again with a number of other Spirit yachts in the 2012 Panerai British Classic.

Since 2007 she has taken part in the Falmouth Classic Regatta and has regularly won her class and joined a large fleet of other Cornish and Breton sailing boats for the 50th anniversary of the annual Helford to L’Aberwrach channel race.

Sailing has otherwise been around the West Coast of Cornwall - Dartmouth and the Isles of Scilly.

The Helford moorings are vacated at the end of October each year and from 2007 to 2010 SPYRYS had been kept inside at Falmouth Boat Construction who carried out regular servicing of equipment and re varnishing of the bright work.

In 2011 / 12 she was refitted at Saxon Wharf Southampton; including a complete repaint of the hull, taking the bright work back to bare wood and recoating with 12 coats of Epiphanes. The fittings including the port holes were re-chromed. The teak deck was given a light refinish. With the sails laundered she looked like a new boat when taking part in the BCYC Regatta in 2012.

The winter 2012 – 13 she is tented on a pontoon in the Pendennis Marina in Falmouth ready for the 2013 season.
